Toronto Date night cruising on the Northern Spirit

Mariposa Cruises’ guest Kaylin Fitzsimons recounts her Toronto date night aboard the Northern Spirit for a  Dinner Cruise on the Toronto Harbour with her boyfriend.

Northern Spirit Toronto date night

Wow, wow & wow! This was our first time on a cruise with Mariposa and it was amazing. We are often near the waterfront and see the beautiful lake sparkling in the sun. We have always talked about going on a dinner boat cruise and finally one day we planned it and boy are we glad we did!

Our fingers were crossed that it would be a mild, dry and warm summer evening. Luckily we got just that. We boarded the Northern Spirit Cruise ship from the Queens Quay port and we were in such awe with the size of the ship up close. We were greeted by the Captains and friendly staff when we arrived and entered the white doors to the main dining room and bar area.

Ein Prosit! To a memorable Oktoberfest feast on Toronto’s Harbour

Mariposa Cruises’ guest Adam Jackson retells his experience aboard the Showboat for the Oktoberfest Dinner Cruise on the Toronto Harbour.

Oktoberfest cruise aboard the ShowboatWhen you think Oktoberfest your mind could either imagine a classy evening with a German-themed menu, or a beer hall full of drunk people swilling beer. Thankfully Mariposa’s Oktoberfest cruise was the former, although secretly I would have been happy with either.

Upon boarding the “Showboat” with my brother, we were shown to our seats and a waiter took our drink orders. This wasn’t going to be a beer-hall type evening, but I couldn’t let the opportunity pass to get into the Oktoberfest spirit and swig from a stein so I ordered 1L of beer. It was a good deal because I even got to keep the stein which now sits above my television.

Summer Sizzle – Date night on the Toronto Harbour

Mariposa Cruises’ guest Graeham Magee recounts his date night as a newlywed aboard the Captain Matthew Flinders for the Summer Sizzle Cruise on the Toronto Harbour.

Summer-Sizzle-Cruise-facebookCaptain Matthew Flinders sacrificed his freedom to become the first to circumnavigate Australia and discover it as a continent. A rugged navigator and respected cartographer, he endured undeniable hardships to explore, discover and further our collective comprehension of the modern world, and in this man’s humble opinion, I believe that he would be proud of the ship at Toronto’s Harbour front bearing his name.

My wife and I… yes wife, it still sounds strange when I say or write it, but strange in the best of ways, (we are newlyweds), decided to take a Saturday night dinner cruise aboard the aforementioned Captain Matthew Flinders, and we were blown away by its majesty and grace. (more…)

My significant other and I decided to toast to the end of summer with Mariposa’s Luau Cruise on the Toronto Harbour. It was the perfect night to say goodbye to summer and ring in September.

From the start, a beautiful luau dancer named Olivia, who placed lei’s around our necks, greeted us. My boyfriend was particularly thrilled by the idea and thoroughly enjoyed that experience.  (more…)

80s & 90s Retro Dinner Cruise

On a sunny and bright Friday evening, my girlfriend and I attended Mariposa Cruises’ Retro Dinner Cruise on the Toronto Harbour.

Before boarding, we were greeted by some of the friendly crew, and a photographer for a local paper covering the outing. We had our picture taken and promptly boarded the Northern Spirit while being welcomed warmly by more of the crew already on board.

Johnathan Ryan remembers the summer nights aboard the Summer Sizzle Cruise

Mariposa Cruises’ guest performer Johnathan Ryan recounts his experience performing on board the Captain Matthew Flinders for the end of summer, Summer Sizzle Cruise on the Toronto Harbour.

Summer-Sizzle-Cruise-facebook I boarded the Captain Matthew Flinders for the first time on the hottest Saturday of the summer to perform for the Summer Sizzle Cruise.

When I arrived on deck I met some of the crew members who were working hard to prepare for the cruise. They took a moment to stop and introduce themselves and offer any assistance I might need. Everyone was so kind and I felt very welcome to be on board.

I was excited to play 3 sets on 3 different decks of the ship and was looking forward to getting the show started. As I finished my sound-check and went to the deck for some fresh air passengers began boarding the ship. (more…)

Girls’ Brunch on the Toronto Harbour

Mariposa Cruises’ guest Jane High retells her experience aboard the Klancy II for a girls’ weekend brunch with her sister, cousin and friend.

Klancy II_5304If you’re looking for a great brunch place with awesome scenery, look no further than Mariposa Cruises!

I went on one of Mariposa’s brunch cruises with my sister, Katie, my cousin Lindsay, who was in town visiting from Ottawa, and my friend Caitlin, who is getting married in a few weeks and whose fiancé was having his bachelor party at their home that day (I had strict instructions to keep her occupied for the day). Katie, Caitlin, and I are all from Toronto and figured we had seen and done it all at this point. Lindsay has been to visit several times, but hadn’t seen much of the Toronto waterfront. (more…)
