Ringing in the New Year on the Toronto Harbour

Mariposa Cruises’ guest Katharine MacNevin retells her experience aboard the the Captain Matthew Flinders for our New Year’s Eve Gala Dinner Cruise on the Toronto Harbour.

“Here comes the jackpot question in advance… What are you doing for the New Year, New Year’s Eve?”

Ahhh yes, the big question. What are you doing New Year’s Eve? Most of us have spent some time pondering over this at one point or another, and perhaps even fretting over whether or not choosing incorrectly might result in a year-long jinx. Fortunately, I don’t subscribe to that theory. Even more fortunate, choosing how to ring in the New Year for 2015 ended up being a very easy decision once I learned there was an option to spend it on a boat, cruising Toronto’s harbour.

Rather than taking the kids to the nearest mall to have their photo taken with Santa, why not make seeing Santa a unique excursion that the whole family can enjoy?

One of the nicest places to enjoy a family outing is on board the Northern Spirit during The Waterfront BIA’s annual Winterfest on Toronto’s Waterfront presented by the Ports Toronto this holiday season from Friday December 18 to Sunday December 20.

Mardi Gras Cruise decor on tableAs adventurous and charming downtown Toronto may be, a dynamic 180 in your environment is always refreshing – and I don’t mean by visiting the CN Tower! Instead, Mariposa Cruises took their guests above and beyond with their specialty Mardi Gras dinner cruise, cruising along Lake Ontario, leaving the city noise behind for a few hours.

Tis the season to plan your holiday season social calendar

DSCN3266The season of goodwill, generosity, indulgence and merriment is no sooner here before it is over.

With November now upon us, it’s that time of year again. The Halloween décor has magically transformed into festive Christmas and holiday décor, seemingly overnight and the familiar holiday music and carols will be playing everywhere you go. While the days may be getting shorter, the beautiful festive glow of holiday lights will soon be on display. The holiday shopping rush will soon be in full swing and your calendar will be quickly filling up with parties and family get-togethers.

While two-months may seem like a good deal of time, it’s amazing how quickly the months of November and December pass. It’s the time of year when everyone’s time gets divided very quickly between family activities, holiday shopping and work engagements and can prove to be a tricky time of year to coordinate a holiday season get-together with friends.
