AGE RESTRICTIONS

Is there an age restriction for attending a cruise? Guests of all ages are allowed on our 45 minute Harbour Tours, Brunch & Lunch cruises.

On Dinner Cruises, it is recommended that guests are 10 years and older due to the later docking time and for the enjoyment of all guests.

Any guests under the age of 18 must be accompanied by and supervised by an adult.  Small children must always be in the close proximity of the accompanying adult and must not run or climb on the boats for safety reasons.

Some special events (such as New Year’s Eve) are a 19+ event. Please contact us for more information on other special events. Please note due to space restrictions, high chairs and change tables are not available on board.

ATTIRE

What is the dress code for Mariposa Cruises? We recommend that you dress for the occasion. For evening cruises, appropriate attire is business-casual. Generally ‘casual shorts and T-shirts’ are not recommended, however we do understand many of our guests are visitors to Toronto and will arrive in comfortable travelling attire. Afternoon cruises are more relaxed, and casual attire is accepted; however, please be mindful of our family environment. Be reminded that boats have boarding ramps, watertight doors and steep stairs so wear sensible shoes for your on board safety. High heels are not recommended for safety reasons. Toronto’s waterfront is usually a few degrees cooler than in the heart of the city, so a sweater, jacket or shawl may be required.

BEVERAGES

What do drinks cost on board? Mixed drinks start at $6.42 each for standard brand liquors; premium drinks start at $7.42 each. All beer is sold by the bottle, with domestic beer at $6.42 each and imported for $7.42 each. Wine starts at $6.42 per glass. Soft drinks & juices are sold for $2.43 each. CLARIFICATION OF “TIMING” TERMS What is “Boarding Time”, “Cruising Time”, “Docking Time” & “Final Disembarking Time”?

  • ”Boarding Time” is the earliest our guests may board the ship. This is typically scheduled for 30 minutes prior to the beginning of your cruising time. If you arrive earlier, you have options to wait on the promenade or in the Queens Quay Building.
  • “Cruising Time” is the time from departure to docking and the boat is cruising on the water.
  • “Docking Time” is the scheduled time that the boat will return to dock.
  • “Final Disembarking Time” is the time allotted for guests to gather their things and say their goodbyes before departing for the evening. This is up to 30 minutes after docking.

Toronto Dinner Cruises Usual boarding time for an evening cruise is at 6:30 p.m. with cruising from 7-10 p.m.

Toronto Lunch & Toronto Brunch Cruises: The usual boarding time for an afternoon cruise is at 11:30 a.m. with cruising from 12-2 p.m. Please note, some special events may have a later boarding time, longer cruising time, therefore a later docking and disembarkment time. NB: Bar service is available upon boarding and will end prior to returning to dock.

CANCELLATIONS

What is your cancellation policy? All sales are final. There are no cancellations, transfers, or exchanges. While we hope for sun, we sail rain or shine. In the event the boat must remain dockside because extreme weather conditions (wind) or other issue, services will be provided on board. We will provide a 48 hours cancellation notice if, for whatever reason, the event is cancelled.

DANCING

Our Toronto dinner cruises feature a full range of popular tunes spun by some of the greatest DJs. Selections may include Rock, Blues, Line Dances, Motown, Oldies, Salsa, Hip Hop, Country, and current chart-toppers from every musical genre. And of course, our DJs are open to accepting requests. Our brunch & lunch cruises feature soft, background music for your enjoyment. We’ve had people dancing on these cruises too!

DIRECTIONS

How do I get to the ship? All of our Mariposa Cruises boats are located at the southwest corner of Queen’s Quay and York Street. Get directions here. We recommend giving your self ample travel time as Toronto’s waterfront is a busy attraction.

How can I purchase gift certificates? Mariposa Gift Certificates are available for purchase online and by calling (416) 203-0178 or toll free (866) 627-7672.

HOUSE SERVICE CHARGE

A house service charge is assigned on the menu portion of your ticket price. This house service charge is pooled and shared with Mariposa team members, cleaning crew, reservation agents, servers, bartenders, deckhands, all who have directly or indirectly participated in the execution of your cruise experience.

Our ticket does NOT include a gratuity for your specific server/bartender on board. Please acknowledge their great service accordingly with a gratuity. Gratuities received remain with the hospitality team on board.

 

GROUPS

What size group can Mariposa Cruises accommodate? Mariposa’s vessels can host parties of two to 200 guests for our public programs. To make a group reservation please call us at (416) 203-0178 or toll free (866) 627-7672. For groups with 200 or more guests, please contact one of our Sales Managers for a customized proposal.

MENU

What type of food is served? Our cruises feature buffet style meals with delicious choices prepared on board by our executive chefs and their galley staff. Yes. There is a Bus Bay loading zone located on the northwest corners of York and Queen’s Quay West which is right across the street from 207 Queen’s Quay West. . 
Coaches may use the southbound lanes of Rees, York and Lower Simcoe Streets for short-term drop/off and pick-up. 

PAYMENT

What type of payment do you accept?
Payment is required in full at the time of the reservation. We accept major credit cards: VISA, MasterCard, American Express, and Diner’s Club. We also accept certified cheques, money orders and cash.

What type of payment do you accept on board your vessels?

We accept payment by cash or major credit only. Debit is not accepted on board any of our vessels.

PHONES

Will my cell phone work on the cruise?
Yes, your cell phone will work on the cruise though there may be black out areas on the lake. For the comfort of other guests, we ask that cell phone conversations be held only on the outside decks.

REFUND POLICY

Do you offer refunds?
Because of limited seating and sailings, there are no refunds or exchanges. All sales are final. While we hope for sun, we sail rain or shine. In the event the boat must remain dockside because extreme weather conditions (wind) or other issue, services will be provided on board. We will provide a 48 hours cancellation notice if, for whatever reason, the event is cancelled. While we regret that you may miss the boat, we cannot refund for latecomers.

SEASICKNESS

Will I get seasick?
It is highly unlikely and rare that guests feel the effects of motion sickness on board. Mariposa Cruises sails in the calm waters of Toronto’s inner harbour and on Lake Ontario.  The route determined by our Captains always has our guest’s comfort and safety in mind.

SEATING ARRANGEMENTS

How is seating arranged on board?

General: The majority of our tables accommodate four to eight people.
Public Programs (Brunch, Lunch & Dinner Cruises): At times, guests may be seated with other parties. Please note: while we do our best to accommodate all requests we are not able to fulfill all requests for window seats.
SHIP INFORMATION

Can you tell me a little about the ship?
All Mariposa Cruises vessels offer interior deck space with seating, outdoor strolling decks, dance floors, full service bars, restrooms and panoramic views. For specific details on each of our six vessels, please click here.

SMOKING

What is your smoking policy?

Our Harbour Tour Program (45 minute tours) is SMOKE-FREE. There will be no smoking on board.

For other 2-3 Hour Cruises the following applies:

In compliance with Smoke Free Ontario, all interior and covered areas of our ships are non-smoking areas. A small, uncovered deck space has been allocated as the designated smoking area on each boat. Regardless of weather conditions, this is the only area guests can smoke on board. Guests cannot consume food or beverages in the designated area.

The designated smoking areas are as follows:

  • Captain Matthew Flinders: Designated smoking area on the main stern deck.
  • Northern Spirit: Designated smoking area on the main stern deck.
  • Oriole: Designated smoking area on the upper stern deck.
  • Showboat: Designated smoking area on the main stern deck.
  • Klancy II: Designated smoking area on starboard bow.
  • Rosemary: Designated smoking area on the starboard bow.

All guests will be required to comply with the smoking policy. Smoking includes the use of e-cigarettes.

TRANSPORT CANADA CERTIFICATION

Are your vessels Transport Canada certified?
Yes. All Mariposa Cruises Vessels are Transport Canada certified and inspected annually to adhere to strict safety regulations. Our navigation and service staff participate in regular safety drills.

TICKETS

Where can I pick up the cruise tickets?

  • Brunch, Lunch & Dinner Cruise Tickets: We operate on a paperless system and no tickets will be issued. Please provide the last name that you used for your reservation to the cruise manager at time of boarding and you will be directed to your assigned table.
  • 45-Minute-Harbour Tour Tickets: Tickets can be purchased online or at our conveniently located kiosk during our regular sailing season. Located on the South West Corner of the Queens Quay Terminal Building.

WATER TAXIS

Are your boats accessible by water taxi?

WEATHER

Do you sail in inclement weather?
Absolutely, we sail rain or shine and while we are always hoping for sunshine, a great time can be had while cruising in the rain.  All of our boats have comfortable enclosed banquet space.

WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBILITY

Is Mariposa wheelchair accessible?

UPDATE TO THE POLICY BELOW AS OF JUNE 1, 2017:  With the record high water levels affecting all boarding ramp inclines, we cannot board wheelchairs- most notably no longer on The Oriole, until further notice.

Due to our ships’ construction for sea-worthiness, our ability to offer wheelchair accessiblity is limited based on the requirement, the particular ship and water levels at the time of the cruise. The Oriole is equipped with a special wheelchair ramp which, pending lake water levels, can accommodate non-motorized wheelchairs.Once on board, non-motorized wheelchairs will be restricted to the boarding deck, and restrooms are located on the lower level, thus are not wheelchair accessible.

Gangways vary in slope, width and construction. Due to the design of the watertight doorway on our ships, wheelchair accessibly is not possible. The design of the vessels must incorporate water tight doors, sills and bulkheads as per ship safety design. Assisted evacuation, in the event of an emergency, requires the limitation of how many non-motorized wheelchairs we can safely accommodate per trip.

As an operator committed to providing both excellent customer service and safe passage, while complying with Transport Canada safety requirements, we request that you call ahead to confirm your particular needs so that we can determine how your requirements can be safely accommodated without disappointment.
