Wow, wow & wow! This was our first time on a cruise with Mariposa and it was amazing. We are often near the waterfront and see the beautiful lake sparkling in the sun. We have always talked about going on a dinner boat cruise and finally one day we planned it and boy are we glad we did!
Our fingers were crossed that it would be a mild, dry and warm summer evening. Luckily we got just that. We boarded the Northern Spirit Cruise ship from the Queens Quay port and we were in such awe with the size of the ship up close. We were greeted by the Captains and friendly staff when we arrived and entered the white doors to the main dining room and bar area.
We each grabbed a cold drink at the bar which was very easy to do since there was no line and it was not overly crowded. We explored the top of the ship where we found a picture perfect view. The ship was at a perfect capacity with other sailors so we were able to take pictures and enjoy the summer breeze, just the two of us before the ship set sail for the cruise.
Once sailing, we took lots of photos and enjoyed our time mesmerized by Toronto’s beautiful city landscape. We both agreed that sailing along the lake is by far the best view of Toronto’s skyline. The ships DJ had romantic and popular hits playing which added to the lovely ambiance.
After enjoying the view on the top of the boat for half an hour, there was an announcement over the speakers that dinner was ready. We went down to our numbered table and we were both surprised at the assortment of choices.
I chose to have the fish, beef, caesar salad, mash potatoes and cheese filled pasta. The food was so delicious and there was truly something for everyone. Most importantly there was a large quantity of food available, so many guests were able to have seconds and thirds.
After dinner, the crew members brought out dessert. The dessert was incredible and very tasty. It passed our mind to take a photo of it because we were too busy enjoying it all. They had a wide selection of fresh fruit with a chocolate fondue station and multiple cakes brought in from Dufflet Pastries. The cheesecake and chocolate cake were by far our favourite!
The view through our table-side window was magical while we were enjoying dinner and dessert. The sun started to set and the colours amongst the clouds were something I have never seen before among Toronto’s buildings.
As we were eating dessert the DJ was giving away prizes. This was really fun and interactive for everyone to participate in. He was asking questions related to the Mariposa Cruise line. The last prize was 2 free Sip and Sail cruise tickets and we ended up winning them! We are so excited to go and cruise along Toronto’s beautiful waterfront on the Oriole ship.
After dessert and winning the prize, we went back upstairs to the top deck to enjoy the beautiful view with all the city lights.
The music was playing and we did not have a worry in the world. We both realized what an amazing evening we had and it couldn’t have been possible without the existence of the magnificent Northern Spirit ship and most importantly Mariposa Cruises.
We are looking forward to the Sip and Sail Cruise in two weeks and would definitely recommend Mariposa Cruises to our family and friends! We are so glad we ended our summer off right!
